Harry Potter series hit with wave of confusion after narrator gossip

Harry Potter fans were left buzzing this week after a wave of online rumours claimed that the new television remake would feature a narrator.

After that news broke the internet, it quickly died down when it was confirmed that no such role existed.

According to a report by Deadline’s Jake Kanter, HBO officially denied the claims that its upcoming Harry Potter series would include a voiceover.

The false news started spreading across fan pages, British outlets and entertainment forums, after a post by Redanian Intelligence, suggested that actor Tom Turner was casted as the show’s narrator.

Turner, known for his work in Beauty and the Beast, is listed by his voice agency as having a “rich” and “luxurious” tone, which fueled even more speculation.

However, sources told Deadline that there was no truth to the claims and that no narrator was planned for the series.

The show, currently in production in the UK, is expected to release in 2027.

The highly anticipated project stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger.

The cast also includes Nick Frost as Hagrid, John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Snape.

Behind the camera, Francesca Gardiner from Succession is set to serve as writer, showrunner and executive producer, while Mark Mylod, also from Succession, directs multiple episodes.

Filming has been underway for months, promising a faithful, long-form retelling of J.K. Rowling’s world of magic.
