Duffer Brothers have revealed whether Stranger Things season 5 will end in a bloodbath.

Amid fears that the finale will kill off multiple beloved characters, the show’s creators Matt and Ross Duffer have broken silence.

“I’ve said this before: The show is not Game of Thrones,” Matt, 41, told Variety. “I’m hoping [the finale] surprises people.”

Matt’s comment comes after the release of Vol. 1 of season 5, on November 26. The final season follows the group’s search for Vecna, whom they left injured in the season 4 finale. The four episodes ended with Will Byers making a major discovery about himself.

The hit show follows the town of Hawkins, where a child goes missing, and his friends risk their safety to look for him, only to discover a girl with superpowers named Eleven.

The show stars Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Sadie Sink as the main group, who are supported by an older group including Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, and Maya Hawke. The show also features Winona Ryder and David Harbour in lead roles. 

Stranger Things season 5’s second volume will be released on Christmas Day and the series finale on December 31.
